Northern Crossroads | Lofoten, Norway
Lofoten, Nordland, Norway • Aerial 360° Photograph
Where these roads meet, there's always something interesting going on.
Lofoten's road network is sparse, and that's just fine. This archipelago is all about nature. One or two main roads per island, a few smaller ones, all running along the edges with nothing cutting through the interior. They meet at the tips of the islands, where the land runs out and the sea takes over. This photograph was taken at exactly one of those meeting points.
Drone photography is the only way to truly show what happens when road, mountain, and sea converge in one place.
Constantly Changing Weather is the Key to Miracles
The weather in Lofoten changes faster than anywhere else I've photographed. That's part of what makes driving these roads so exciting. You never experience the same view twice. The light shifts, the clouds move, and suddenly the same crossroads looks completely different from five minutes ago.
