Green Dreams | Lofoten, Norway
Lofoten, Nordland, Norway • Aerial 360° Photograph
What is it like when the sun doesn't shine on Lofoten? See it for yourself.
Lofoten is not all about the midnight sun. Looking at those golden photographs it's easy to imagine life in constant sunshine during summer. But that couldn't be further from the truth. Aerial 360° photography has a way of revealing the real character of a place, not just its best moments. This photograph is proof of that.
The Land of Constantly Changing Weather
Lofoten is notorious for the midnight sun, the unmatched beaches, the small iconic fishing villages, and yes, the wildly inconsistent weather. As a landscape photographer, I've never experienced anything as unpredictable. Planning a shoot here is almost impossible. You check the forecast, prepare for the location, plan the light, and then the weather does exactly what it wants anyway.
It's happened more than once that conditions turned bad despite a promising forecast. And just as often, I've stayed in my hotel room unnecessarily while bright sunshine filled the sky outside, all thanks to a forecast that promised all-day rain.
If you ever visit Lofoten, expect the unexpected. And enjoy every moment of it regardless.
