View from the Most Photographed Football Pitch in the World | Henningsvær, Norway

Henningsvær, Nordland, Norway • Aerial 360° Photograph

It doesn't matter whether you like football. This pitch will enchant you regardless.

What Makes the Location Special

Almost everything. The village of Henningsvær is home to around 500 people, sits not far from the Arctic Circle, and has built its identity around fishing for generations. Those wooden structures you can see in the photograph? That's dried codfish, tørrfisk, a Lofoten staple with a history as long as the village itself.

During the midnight sun season, from mid-May to late July, you could theoretically play football here at 2 AM in broad daylight. Only amateur football is allowed on the pitch, there are no seats, and the whole thing feels slightly unreal. Which is perhaps why nobody can stop photographing it.
